Why are Holiday Camps important?

Holiday Camps are important for the development of your children, giving them the possibility to get to know new people, to bound, create their own autonomy and basis for life.

There are many reasons why parents may choose Alpine Summer Camp: Many do it for their children to become independent, to "grow", to gain maturity, all in all, to cut the umbilical cord with the parents.

However, it is also during school holidays, that parents like you who work and need to occupy their childrens’ time, seek for a safe place, with outdoor activities, away from the videogames or PC games. That’s when you find Alpine Summer Camp.

To break the routine and provide an array of new experiences is indicative of the importance of Holiday Camps and their benefits.

How do School Programs work?

The ASC organises activity programmes, school trips, school parties and custom programs, according to each group’s requirements. They come with their school or institution, accompanied by their teachers and they have an ASC technical team with them 24 hours a day, making sure the programmes runs smoothly and successfully.

Please note: it is extremely important that parents notify the teachers of all relevant information, such as: any food issues, family issues (divorce, death of a family member, etc.) or other information they may think we should know so that we can give our best attention to each child.

Why are School Programs important?

Alpine Summer Camp activities programs promote sharing moments and unique experiences during our participants stay. We guarantee to all our participants unforgettable and important days, that will remain forever in each one lives.

In addition to all this, during our School Programs teachers are reunited with their students in a different environment, which helps to grow their relationship stronger. It’s an excellent opportunity to join educational contents (by visiting historic cities like Bern) and fun/entertainment, in a healthy and warm surrounding.

A very important subject to us and to which we devote much effort! At Alpine Summer Camp the security of all our participants is our main priority.

The monitoring of your child 24hours per day is done by Alpine Summer Camps’ team, being this formed by professionals of child care, tourism, sports, among others.

The entrance to our space is always limited and well controlled. The whole area is fenced and full of video surveillance devices that cover the whole space, as well as devices to control fire and theft.

It is absolutely forbidden to activate the fire alarms if not in an emergency. If this happens without a justifiable cause, the participant will have to pay a fine (established by the relevant authorities).

All activities are developed by accredited technicians, using certified materials and always promoting a prevention policy.

How to contact your son?

You can contact your child every day while he is at Campo Aventura. Even though cell phones are not allowed during activities, between 19 and 21pm you may contact and talk to your child by his/her cell phone (which shall be delivered to him/her at that time) or by contacting his/her group coordinator that will be given to you in the beginning of your son/daughters’ shift.

At School Programs, the group leaders (usually teachers) should give the parents a phone number where they can be contacted at the ASC.

Note: Cell Phones schedule may suffer changes concerning the activities programmed for that day.

The European Health Insurance Card

The European Health Insurance Card makes it easier for people from the European Union’s 27 Member States plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland to access healthcare services during temporary visits abroad.

So, if you are going on holiday, a business trip or a short break or are heading off to study abroad, remember to make sure that you have obtained a card. It will help save you time, hassle and money if you fall ill or suffer an injury while abroad.

What are the practical benefits of the card?
The card ensures that you will get the same access to public sector health care (e.g. a doctor, a pharmacy, a hospital or a health care centre) as nationals of the country you are visiting. If you have to receive medical attention in a country that charges for health care, you will be reimbursed either immediately, or after you go home to your own country. The idea is that you are given the care you need to allow you to continue with your stay.
However, it is important to note that the card does not cover your health care costs while abroad if you are travelling in order to obtain treatment for an illness or injury that you had before travelling. Nor does the card cover you for private sector health care providers.

Which countries are involved?

- Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom,
- Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway,
- and Switzerland.

How can I obtain a card?

You can obtain a card by contacting your local health authority as each individual country is responsible for producing and distributing the card in its own territory.
Who can benefit from the card?
To be eligible for a card, you must be insured by or covered by a state social security system in any Member State of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. Each separate member of a family travelling should have their own card. People from third countries who are resident in one of the EU Member States and are covered by a state social security scheme are also eligible for a card . However, please note that third country nationals cannot use their EHIC for medical treatment in Denmark.

What information is on the card?

The only personal information on the European Health Insurance Card is the cardholder’s first name and surname, personal identification number and date of birth. The European Health Insurance Card does not contain medical data.

How long is the card valid for?

This varies from one country to another and is best to check when you contact your local health authority to obtain the card.

What action can I take if my local authority refuses to give me a European Health Insurance Card?

If you ask for the European Health Insurance Card, your local authority is obliged to provide you with one or, failing that, with a provisional replacement certificate if the card is not immediately available. If they do not, you should be able to appeal. The European Commission can offer information on how you can enforce your rights and suggests that you contact Solvit in the first instance to see how to make a complaint.

Is the healthcare free of charge?

Depending of the legislation of the country where you are staying, health care is either free or, if you have to pay, you will be reimbursed. If you have to pay up-front, the card will guarantee that you receive money back in that country or, if you were not able complete the reimbursement procedure, soon after you return home by your local health authority. The health care is provided in accordance with the legislation of the country that you are visiting. If you have any doubts about what health care and which costs your card covers you for, you are advised to contact that country’s health authority.

What happens if I travel without the card and need medical treatment?

If the need arises, you will still receive the treatment necessary to enable you to continue your holiday without having to return home for treatment. But remember that the card will make it easier for you to access free medical care on the spot or for you to be reimbursed if you have to pay up front. That is why, when you travel to another Member State of the European Economic Area or Switzerland, whether for private or professional reasons, you are strongly advised to do so with a European Health Insurance Card.

Can a doctor refuse to treat me if I have forgotten my card?

Medical ethics dictate that a doctor cannot refuse to treat you if your state of health requires treatment. However, there is no guarantee that your costs will be reimbursed under the same conditions as if you had been able to prove that you had social security insurance at the time by presenting the card or an equivalent document. The doctor or medical establishment might well ask you to pay the full cost or to pay up front a proportion of the costs which an insured person in that same Member State would not be asked to pay. In an emergency your local health authority might be able to help by faxing or e-mailing you a provisional replacement certificate, which gives you the same protection as the European Health Insurance Card.

Which examinations or types of treatment are accessible to students and posted workers?

Both these categories of people (students and posted workers) are issued with a European Health Insurance Card which in their case replaces the E 128 form. The European Health Insurance Card gives them access to treatment that is necessary taking account of the duration of their stay. In the case of posting or studying, the period can be relatively long, and the range of treatment accessible may be more extensive than for a tourist staying only for a few days.

Would I be able to use the card to arrange to be transported back to my home country if I had a serious accident or suffered a serious illness?

The card can be used to get easier access to medical treatment but it has nothing to do with repatriation. The card will not help transport you back home free of charge if you were to fall seriously ill or suffer a serious accident. For that situation, you will need separate insurance cover.

If I have a chronic medical condition for which I have to see the doctor regularly and want to go to another Member State for a temporary stay, will the European Health Insurance Card cover me for medical treatment there?

Yes, if you have a chronic medical condition (for example, in cases of asthma, diabetes, or cancer) you are entitled, during your temporary stay in another Member State, to treatment that is considered necessary, taking into account your medical condition. However, if your medical condition means that you need special medical surveillance, and in particular the use of special techniques or equipment (e.g. dialysis treatment), you may wish to organize your stay in advance to make sure that you will have access to the equipment or treatment you require. You can do this by contacting the local specialist medical unit in the country you will be visiting before you leave home.

I’m pregnant. Will the European Health Insurance Card cover medical treatment during a stay in another Member State?

Yes, the European Health Insurance Card covers all medical treatment in conjunction with your pregnancy, including child birth, while you are staying temporarily in another country. However, if you would like to give birth in another country, please contact your local health authority as you may need special authorization (S2 form).

What should I do if, during or before my visit, I suddenly realise that I have forgotten or lost my card?

If you have forgotten or lost your card, you can ask your local authority to fax or e-mail you a provisional replacement certificate. This will give you the same entitlement as the card does.

Where and what do participants eat?

Our food is wonderful!

Our menus are delicious, homemade, fresh and offer the possibility of choice. Alpine Summer Camp has a major concern about your child feeding and whenever necessary, encourage him to eat well and try new dishes.

Mostly, our meals will be served at Alpine Summer Camp dining room. When in outdoor activities, meals will be served as a Pic Nic.

NOTE:

In case of your child needs specific food cares with medical order, let us know in advance so we can serve you according to your needs.

Money and Values

We recommend children to bring their belongings well identified and to avoid bringing materials such as: Playstations, electronic games, mobile phones, etc.
All valuable materials (camera, mobile phones, money or other valuable belongings) will be handed on the first day to the coordinator who will be responsible for the items, or placed in the Alpine Summer Camp vault.

In case of being at participant’s custody (this possibility exists only for mp3 and money, excluding the phone) the coordinator does not have any responsibility for its possible disappearance. To all other objects, Alpine Summer Camp advises their identification and it is not responsible for any loss or damage.

Drugs and SOS

Alpine Summer Camp has a First Aid cabinet, open 24 hours per day.
In addition, all monitors have training first aid and every time even in "superficial" cases, they intervene. Situations that require more care, Alpine Summer Camp goes to the nearest Hospital.

As with any medication/or diseases and disabilities, these should be mentioned so we may always act in the most correct way, knowing all the necessary precautions. Many conditions can interfere with the child's behavior during the period of stay at Alpine Summer Camp.
Let us know so we can help in any way possible (birth of a sibling, endurese night, anorexia, etc.).

The information shall be confidential and treated with the most sensitivity.
